Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the AXX engine according to the catalog is 155 kg. The AXX engine number is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. This engine is known for its high oil consumption and increased carbon buildup. The intake valves and variable geometry flaps in the intake suffer from carbon buildup. To eliminate excessive oil consumption, it is possible to replace the original pistons with forged ones. The timing belt lasts about 90,000 km, as does the intermediate shaft chain. The camshaft adjuster or the pusher of the fuel injection pump (TNVD) drive may fail before reaching 100,000 km. Ignition coils and the N249 bypass valve also have a modest lifespan.
