Engine Overview and Common Failures

The main problems for the owner are caused by the K-Jetronic mechanical injection system. The reason for fluctuating RPM is usually a broken RUD diaphragm or dirt in the CXH. The fuel pump cannot tolerate dirt and prolonged driving with an almost empty tank. Some components of the ignition system also have low reliability. At high mileage, hydraulic compensators often fail and start to knock.
