Engine Overview and Common Failures

The most well-known problem of the engine is oil consumption due to scoring in the cylinders. Another common cause of lubricant consumption is a defective oil separator. Cracking during engine start suggests critical wear of the timing chain tensioners. The water pump and high-pressure fuel pump have a relatively low lifespan. After 100,000 km, catalytic converters often fail and their particles are drawn into the cylinders.
