Engine Overview and Common Failures

The most common problem with engines of this series is cylinder wear, Pistons are prone to ring sticking and excessive oil consumption, usually replaced by forged ones. Timing chains also often stretch and their tensioners fail. It is not known for reliability and has a complicated intake system with two sets of valves. The intake valves quickly become clogged with carbon deposits and the engine cylinders experience a loss of compression.
