Engine Overview and Common Failures

Despite having an aluminum block, cylinder scoring is not common here. However, if you save on oil and experience frequent overheating, they won't keep themselves waiting. The most problematic issue here is unreliable timing chain tensioners. Try to monitor the condition of the timing belt or if it breaks, the valves will be bent. Oil leaks are also common, especially at the junction of the engine and the gearbox.
