Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the EP6C engine with attachments is 118 kg. The EP6C engine number is located at the front, where it meets the gearbox. The low resource of the timing chain in updated units has been revised and its lifespan has significantly increased, but still requires replacement at a low mileage: it used to be 50,000 km, now it's 100-150 thousand km. An advantage is that there are many cheap substitutes available for sale. Adjustable oil pump. The new oil pump with adjustable pressure-flow lubrication often jams, and there is a risk that this can happen during minimal performance mode. In that case, the engine will quickly damage the bearings, and possibly the camshaft as well. Vanos and Valvetronic problems. Many complaints on relevant forums are related to malfunctions in the Valvetronic system. With the update, the Vanos phase regulator valves received a filter, but their lifespan did not increase. Other engine problems. Oil consumption due to piston ring deposits or worn oil control rings is still common in these engines. Leaks of lubricant or coolant occur constantly, cases of valve seat recession are recorded, and the pump and thermostat have a very short service life.
