Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the EB2DTS engine according to the catalog is 99 kg. The EB2DTS engine number is located in front at the junction with the gearbox. Turbo engines of the early years were recalled due to axial clearance of the crankshaft. Due to direct injection nozzles, the engine suffers from carbon deposits on the valves. Many owners also complain about oil consumption at a mileage of 100-120 thousand km. However, the main design flaw of the unit is the timing belt in the oil pan. It does not last the intended 180,000 km, and its wear products clog the oil channels.
