Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the VAZ 21114 engine according to the catalog is 112 kg. Overheating: The main cause of regular engine overheating is the low quality of some parts, particularly the thermostat and the pump. Fluctuating RPM: The reason for fluctuating idle RPM should primarily be sought among sensors such as RHXX, DMRV or DPDZ. Don't rush to buy a new one, cleaning often helps. Electrical problems: Many electrical glitches of the power unit are related to the quirks of the 21114-1411020 ECU. It is probably the most popular part to order from specialized online stores. Misfire: Motor misfiring or stuttering is mainly caused by the failure of the not very reliable four-terminal ignition coil, less frequently due to valve burnout. Minor issues: We will briefly mention all the minor issues of this unit in one go. There are no hydraulic compensators, and usually, unadjusted valves make noise under the hood. Oil leaks from the seals regularly occur, and the fuel pump often fails.
