Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the VAZ 2110 engine according to the catalog is 126 kg. The engine number of the VAZ 2110 is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. The most finicky part of the engine is the Solex carburetor. Any experienced owner knows what a forced idle speed economizer or main dosing system is. And also knows how to disassemble it to clean clogged jets. Oil leaks and condensation are considered common problems. Especially lubrication seeps from the seals and around the valve cover. The most common causes of engine overheating are a faulty thermostat or cracks in the cooling system pipes. Loud noises under the hood are usually caused by improperly adjusted valves, but if it's not them, be prepared for a fairly expensive repair. As it could be knocking pistons or crankshaft main bearings.
