Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the VAZ 2106 engine according to the catalog is 121 kg. The VAZ 2106 engine number is located above the oil filter. Wear of the camshaftMany car owners with this engine save on maintenance and ignore the valve clearance adjustment procedure. That is why camshaft wear is often encountered here. Engine overheatingThe thermostat, water pump, and cooling fan also have a modest lifespan here. Failure of any of these components leads to engine overheating and gasket failure. Oil consumptionOn high mileage, such engines often consume oil due to severe wear of the oil control caps, piston rings, and also due to clogged crankcase ventilation. Other problemsCarburetor temper tantrums, unreliable auxiliary equipment, short-lived timing chain, and leaks from the crankshaft seal or valve cover cause a lot of trouble.
