Engine Overview and Common Failures

All the most common problems of this diesel engine are related to failures of the VP44 fuel pump. Several cases of hollow camshaft breakage have been described on the specialized forum. Oil leaks, especially from under the valve covers, also occur very frequently. Owners often encounter turbine geometry lockups at high mileage. Due to the use of cheap oil, reduction valves and hydraulic lifters wear out here.
