Engine Overview and Common Failures

Savings on lubrication lead to rapid wear of the camshaft and hydraulic lifters. The injector pump housings often break due to poor fastening. The turbocharger itself is reliable, often only its geometry and the electro-vacuum valve cause problems. If the engine is running unstable, check the wiring of the injectors, the EGR valve, and the fuel pressure regulator. The weak points of the engine include the membrane of the crankcase ventilation system and the constantly leaking tandem pump.
