Engine Overview and Common Failures

Owners often complain on forums about problems with the fuel injection pump or injectors. The second most common issue is the constantly knocking vacuum pump and failures of the EGR valve. Keep an eye on the cooling system, as the aluminum cylinder head is susceptible to overheating. Replacement of all belts and rollers is required every 100,000 km, which can be quite expensive. After 200,000 km, the variable geometry turbocharger often starts to consume oil.
