Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the AAB engine assembly is 168 kg. The AAB engine number is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. This diesel engine does not have a turbine or even a mechanical fuel injection pump, so there is nothing to break. The most serious problem is the cracking of the cylinder head after overheating. It is necessary to monitor the condition of the timing belt, as its failure is fatal for the engine. On long distances, the engine often consumes oil, up to one liter per 1000 km. Also, leaks from the fuel injection pump are quite common here due to wear of its gaskets.
