Engine Overview and Common Failures

Massive problem is leaks in the seals of the injectors and tandem pump. The aluminum cylinder block without liners is sensitive to poor diesel fuel quality and prone to scoring. The oil system heat exchanger often leaks, causing oil contamination with antifreeze. With mileage reaching 250,000 km, rocker arms, camshaft lobes, or injectors can wear out. There are also other breakdowns that occur less frequently and are not as expensive to repair.
