Engine Overview and Common Failures

First of all, this diesel engine is known for its relatively modest lifespan of its turbines. The gear mechanism of the timing belt also has a reputation for being not very reliable. Leaks often occur at the seals of the tandem pump or the injector pump. With high mileage, it is not uncommon to encounter flaking of the cylinder walls coating. The clutch of the air conditioner and the generator are also considered weak points of this unit.
