Engine Overview and Common Failures

The B234R engine number is located at the front of the engine, next to the transmission. This is a reliable engine, most breakdowns occur at high mileage. The main source of trouble is the balancing shaft, which many people simply remove. In rare cases, the ignition cassette can burn out due to infrequent spark plug replacement or due to jump-starting. Timing chain elongation or wear of the oil pump occurs only after 250,000 km. Rare cases of engine failure have been recorded due to loosened connecting rod caps.
