Engine Overview and Common Failures

The reason for power loss is often due to the turbine geometry or the EGR valve blade being stuck. Additionally, on high mileage vehicles, valve seats can often burn out and compression drops. If the accessory belt breaks, it may end up getting into the timing belt system and require repair. If the entire oil pan is covered in oil, start searching for leaks from the lower flange of the PCV tube. The source of coolant leakage here is usually a cracked cooling tee.
