Engine Overview and Common Failures

This diesel engine cannot tolerate cheap oil, and its lifespan depends on the quality of lubrication. Poor oil contributes to the wear of hydraulic compensators or cam lobes. The culprit of the engine's unstable operation is usually a turbine geometry wedge. The attachment of the pump-injectors with a single bolt can loosen here, causing leaks. Malfunctions related to the tandem pump are also often discussed online.
