Engine Overview and Common Failures

This is a very reliable engine, but it cannot tolerate the use of low-quality lubricant. The cam lobes and hydraulic lifters wear out quickly due to bad oil. Contamination and turbocharger geometry lock-up lead to frequent loss of power. Due to being fastened with one bolt, the unit injectors can become loose and cause leakage. Malfunctions of the tandem pump are often the cause of engine failures.
