Engine Overview and Common Failures

This is a very reliable and durable diesel engine without a turbocharger and with a mechanical fuel injection pump. The only weak point of the engine is the prone to cracking cylinder head gasket. It is also necessary to monitor the condition of the timing belt, as its failure can cause valve damage. After 200,000 km, oil consumption is often observed, up to one liter per 1000 km. Additionally, on high mileage vehicles, fuel injection pump leakage due to worn gaskets is not uncommon.
