Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the Mazda FS engine according to the catalog is 136.3 kg. The Mazda FS engine number is located at the junction with the gearbox. This reliable power unit does not tolerate the use of cheap oil. Hydrocompensators start knocking from poor lubrication even before 50,000 km. Typically, oil scraper rings accumulate here, leading to lubricant consumption. The timing belt is usually changed approximately every 60,000 km, but it will not cause valve failure. A significant part of the remaining problems here are the quirks of the ignition system.
