Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the KL-DE engine is 171 kg (with attachments). The engine number KL-DE is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. The engines in this series are reliable, but the spare parts are a bit expensive. The aluminum block is very sensitive to overheating, so please keep an eye on the cooling system. Valve cover gaskets often lose their seal and start leaking by 100,000 km. The timing belt lasts approximately 80-90 thousand km, but if it breaks, the valves won't bend. With cheap lubricant, hydraulic lifters can start making noise even before reaching 50,000 km.
