Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the H4M engine according to the catalog is 98 kg. The H4M engine number is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The most well-known problem of this reliable engine is oil consumption. Oil consumption can occur immediately or when the engine mileage reaches 120-150 thousand km. In the first case, selecting the correct oil will help you, and in the second case, only an overhaul will be necessary. The low lifespan of the timing chain. The chain is designed for the entire lifespan of the engine, but for aggressive drivers, it may stretch up to 150,000 km. The replacement is inexpensive, but often the phaser regulator also needs to be replaced, which doubles the cost. Knocking noises under the hood are often caused by improperly adjusted valves. However, the source of the noise can also be a worn engine mount, usually on the right side. Common minor issues with the engine include a constantly squealing alternator belt, a delicate ignition block relay, and a burned gasket on the intake manifold of the muffler.
