Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the LE5 engine according to the catalog is 145 kg. The LE5 engine number is located on the oil filter housing. A known problem with this power unit is the short lifespan of the timing chain. When replacing the chains, make sure to also update the balance chain tensioner (not included in the timing kit). Ignoring rattling chains leads to rapid wear of the camshaft sprockets. On mileage exceeding 100,000 km, lubricant consumption often occurs due to ring deposits. Additionally, crankcase ventilation is frequently clogged and the exhaust manifold may crack.
