Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 5E-FE engine according to the catalog is 120 kg. The engine number for the 5E-FHE is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. This engine tends to overheat quickly, so please keep an eye on the cooling system. Overheating often leads to blown head gaskets, cracked and leaking seals. The cause of fluctuating engine RPMs is usually a dirty throttle body and EGR channel. Around 150,000 km, excessive oil consumption often occurs due to worn rings or valve stem seals. There are no hydraulic lifters, so it is necessary to adjust the valves approximately every 100,000 km.
