Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the LTG engine according to the catalog is 160 kg. The LTG engine number is located at the back, at the junction of the block and the gearbox. This turbocharged engine has been in production for quite a long time and many of its shortcomings have already been fixed. First of all, the engine is prone to detonation and its aluminum pistons simply crack. Like all direct injection engines, it suffers from carbon deposits on the intake valves. It does not have a high lifespan, and the timing chain sometimes needs to be replaced around 100,000 km. Lubricant leaks are also quite common here, especially from the timing cover.
