Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the LF-DE engine according to the catalog is 125 kg. The LF-DE engine number is located at the back, at the junction of the engine and the gearbox. In the early years, there were many cases of throttle valves sticking or falling off in the intake. The main cause of fluctuating RPM is often failures in the throttle assembly. Weak points of the engine also include the thermostat, pump, and right engine support. On mileage over 200,000 km, oil consumption and timing chain stretching are often encountered. Since there are no hydraulic compensators, the valves will need to be adjusted every 100,000 km.
