Engine Overview and Common Failures

This engine is known for its high reliability and all its problems are due to old age. The main difficulties for the owner are the adjustment of the VE37 electronic fuel injection pump. The aluminum cylinder head does not tolerate overheating, so you should keep an eye on the condition of the cooling system. It is advisable to change the timing belt every 100,000 km, as valve bending can occur if it breaks. On high mileage, the turbocharger, EGR valve, and hydraulic lifters often require attention.
