Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the ASE engine according to the catalog is 250 kg. The ASE engine number is located between the cylinder heads. This engine had weak timing chain tensioners, which often led to skipping. Also, the intake manifold valves frequently came off and fell into the cylinders. The remaining common problems with the engine are usually related to fuel system failures. Saving on oil greatly reduces the lifespan of the turbochargers and hydraulic lifters. Check the condition of the glow plugs or they may simply break when unscrewing.
