Engine Overview and Common Failures

The most troublesome for owners are malfunctions in the operation of the temperamental VP44 fuel pump. Updated hollow camshafts often break down at mileage ranges of 150-250 thousand km. Additionally, there is a constant leakage of lubricant at the engine joints and from under the valve covers. The turbine mechanism frequently jams due to geometry issues, and the viscous coupling bearing does not last long. Poor-quality oils can cause hydraulic lifters and reduction valves to seize up.
