Engine Overview and Common Failures
According to the catalog, the weight of the G4NC engine is 120 kg. The engine number G4NC is located at the front where it meets the gearbox. There are scuff marks on the cylinders. Since these engines are rare in our market, there is little information about scuffing. However, they scuff in the same way as their counterparts in the series with distributed injection: they suck in catalyst particles into the cylinders and expand the thin cast iron sleeves. The timing chain has a low lifespan. For not very active drivers, the timing chain can last several hundred thousand kilometers, but with aggressive driving and sudden starts, its lifespan drops to 100-150 thousand km. When the chain stretches, it doesn't break, but rather jumps and almost always bends the valves. There is carbon buildup on the valves. Like all direct fuel injection engines, this one also has a problem with carbon buildup on the intake valves, which prevents them from closing tightly. All of this leads to unstable engine operation and the need for decarbonization. Other drawbacks mentioned by owners on forums include oil leaks due to weak gaskets, the relatively low lifespan of the water pump, generator, and other ancillary equipment, and the fact that early-year models had weak bearings that sometimes spun.
