Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the G4JP engine is 150.8 kg (excluding attachments). The engine number G4JP is located on the cylinder block. The balance belt. This unit is very demanding in terms of oil quality and particularly its replacement intervals. Saving on lubrication often results in bearing failure of the balance shafts and the breaking of their belt, which goes straight into the timing belt, causing it to break as well. All this leads not only to valve bending, but also to fatal damage to the cylinder head. Engine vibrations. Owners of vehicles with this engine often complain about strong engine vibrations. The culprits can be not only the balance shafts, but also unreliable supports of the unit. Tapping of hydraulic lifters. The use of cheap oil greatly affects the durability of the hydraulic lifters. Sometimes they can fail and start tapping loudly after 50,000 kilometers of mileage. Other shortcomings. Here, floating engine speed due to throttle or ECU contamination is often encountered, and after 200-250 thousand kilometers of mileage, piston rings often get stuck and oil consumption appears.
