Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the VQ30DE engine according to the catalog is 190 kg. The engine number VQ30DE is located at the junction of the block with the gearbox. Most of the problems with the engine are caused by catalyst crumbs being sucked into the cylinders. They scratch the walls of the combustion chamber and after that excessive oil consumption starts. Often, the mating surfaces of the cylinder head gasket become warped due to engine overheating. Dirty idle air control valve often causes fluctuating RPM. After 200,000 kilometers of mileage, it may be necessary to replace the timing chain kit. Oil here leaks from under the valve covers or from camshaft position sensors.
