Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the VQ25HR engine according to the catalog is 185 kg. The engine number is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The most problematic part of this engine is the catalyst, which deteriorates due to poor fuel quality. Its particles then enter the cylinders, causing scratches. All of this leads to high oil consumption, which increases over time. Until 2012, paper gaskets were used for the oil channels located under the front cover of these engines. They often get squeezed out before reaching 100-150 thousand km. As a result, the lubrication pressure decreases, which often results in bearing failure. During particularly aggressive driving, air filters can be crushed (there are two of them), and there is also an increased risk of blowing the cylinder head gasket and oil entering the coolant. Due to the same reason, valve covers become coked up and the engine starts to stall. Since hydraulic lifters are not provided, the valves here need to be adjusted.

Nissan Vg30i engine

The 3.0-liter Nissan VG30i engine was produced for a short period, from 1985 to 1989, and quickly gave way to more modern units with distributed injection. This gasoline engine with single-point injection was only installed in pickups or SUVs. The VG series of 12-valve engines includes: VG20E, VG20ET, VG30E, VG30ET, and VG33E.

Nissan Vk56de engine

The 5.6-liter V8 engine Nissan VK56DE was produced at factories in the USA from 2003 to 2015 and installed in the largest and most powerful models such as Armada, Titan, and Infiniti QX56. In 2007, this engine underwent significant modernization, which is why there are two generations of this engine. The VK family also includes engines: VK45DE, VK45DD, VK50VE, and VK56VD.

Chrysler Ege engine

The 3.5-liter V6 Chrysler EGE gasoline engine was produced by the company from 1992 to 1997 and installed in many models on the LH platform, such as Concorde, LHS, Intrepid, and Vision. Only this engine had an iron engine block, all subsequent engines in the series had aluminum. The LH series also includes engines: EER, EGW, EGG, EGF, EGN, EGS, and EGQ.

Ford Iqdb Engine

The 1.6-liter Ford IQDB or 1.6 Duratec Ti VCT engine with a power of 105 HP was installed from 2011 to 2019 and used in the third generation of the Focus model, including the wagon version based on it - the C-Max. This powertrain differs from its 125 HP counterpart only in software. The Duratec Ti-VCT engine range includes: - UEJB, - HXDA, - PNBA, - PNDA, - SIDA, and - XTDA.
