Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the SIDA engine is 91 kg (without attachments). The Ford SIDA engine number is located at the front, where it meets the gearbox. In the early years of production, owners often encountered failures of phase regulators. Other than that, it is a reliable unit, although it demands high-quality fuel. Poor gasoline quickly damages the spark plugs and the expensive fuel pump. Additionally, oil regularly leaks from the crankshaft seals and from under the valve cover.
