Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the HXDA engine is 93 kg (without attachments). The Ford HXDA engine number is located at the front, where it meets the gearbox. The most common problems for owners are the unreliable phase regulators. In second place are frequent failures of ignition system components and the fuel pump. Oil leaks from the valve cover or crankshaft seals regularly occur. A major maintenance service with valve clearance adjustment and timing belt replacement is required every 100,000 km. After reaching a mileage of 200,000 km, you will likely need to perform engine decarbonization.
