Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the EHB engine assembly is 165 kg. The EHB engine number is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. A well-known problem of this unit is the quick failure of phase shifters. In second place in terms of prevalence are frequent leaks from the oil cooler. In the version with start-stop system, the electric motor of the vacuum pump often breaks down. The engine is demanding in terms of oil quality, otherwise the camshaft lobes will begin to wear out. The water pump, thermostat, and dual-circuit oil pump also have a low service life.
