Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the BRF engine assembly is 204 kg. The BRF engine number is located at the front of the block. It is a reliable and long-lasting engine, and most of its problems are due to old age. The main complaints are related to frequent lubrication leaks from gaskets and seals. Hydraulic lifters do not tolerate cheap oils and may start knocking at 150-200 thousand km. Wear of valve guides is often encountered at a mileage of 200-250 thousand km. The chain between the crankshaft and camshaft lasts for a long time and is usually replaced closer to 300,000 km.
