Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the G6CU engine according to the catalog is 199 kg. The G6CU engine number is located at the junction of the engine and the gearbox. The intake manifold flaps are known weak points of this engine. They deteriorate quite quickly, resulting in an air suction in the intake, and eventually they completely come off and their bolts fall into the cylinders, causing damage there. Bearing rotation is also a common occurrence. This power unit is very demanding in terms of lubrication level and the condition of the oil pump. Since oil consumption is not uncommon, bearing rotation of the crankshaft is a frequent phenomenon. On long distances, it is advisable to use thick oil and regularly replace it. Other disadvantages include the low lifespan of the crankshaft pulley, frequent failures of sensors, short lifespan of hydraulic compensators which often start knocking at a mileage of 100,000 km. The engine speed constantly fluctuates due to throttle or fuel injector contamination.
