Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the N52 engine according to the catalog is 160 kg. The N52 engine number is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. 2.5 liter engines have thin piston rings that quickly wear out. After 100,000 km, oil control caps often harden and oil consumption occurs. The valve ventilation membrane in this engine also does not last long. All of this leads to gradual carbon buildup and further unstable engine operation. The cause of fluctuating RPMs is usually due to malfunctions in the Valvetronic or Vanos system. Electrical issues often arise with the oil level sensor, which can result in oil starvation. In power units produced between 2004-2009, hydraulic compensators tend to tick when cold.
