Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the N62 engine according to the catalog is 220 kg. The engine number N62 is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The main problems of the engine are associated with malfunctions in the Valvetronic and VANOS systems. The second most common issue is increasing oil consumption due to worn oil control rings. Fluctuating RPMs are usually caused by ignition coils or airflow sensors. It is very common for the gasket of the generator housing and crankshaft seal to leak. On high mileage, debris from a deteriorating catalytic converter can be sucked into the cylinders.
