Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the N63 engine according to the catalog is 230 kg. The N63 engine number is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. This engine has so many problems that listing them would take an eternity. Firstly, there is excessive oil consumption due to worn oil control valve seals and worn rings. The threads in the soft aluminum cylinder block are weak, and the cylinder head may lift. Regular spark plugs quickly fail and misfires occur. After prolonged periods of inactivity, hydraulic shock can occur due to fuel injector overflow. The oil supply lines to the turbo gradually become clogged, reducing their lifespan. The dual-VANOS and Valvetronic systems in the timing mechanism have a low level of reliability.
