Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the N53 engine according to the catalog is 160 kg. The N53 engine number is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. Most of the problems with this unit are related to the direct fuel injection system. Due to poor gasoline, piezoelectric injectors and their high-pressure fuel pump can quickly fail. After a long period of inactivity, faulty injectors can cause hydraulic shock in the engine. Owners of vehicles with this engine often change spark plugs and ignition coils. At mileage over 100,000 km, the Vanos variable valve timing system often requires repair.
