Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the M60 engine according to the catalog is 203 kg. The M60 engine number is located in the cylinder block assembly. Until 1994, it used a nikasil coating which is very sensitive to sulfur in the fuel. Adjusting the timing of the valve train often helps with idle vibrations. The cause of excessive oil consumption lies in the oil control rings or the crankcase ventilation system. The oil pump screws can loosen and fall into the oil pan, so it's advisable to check them. Factory catalytic converters had a short lifespan, so owners got rid of them.
