Engine Overview and Common Failures

The dry weight of the G4LC engine is 85.9 kg (without accessories). The engine number G4LC is located at the front, at the junction with the gearbox. The only well-known issue with this power unit is oil consumption. The manufacturer has reduced the weight of the engine by 14 kg compared to the G4FA engine, but at around 150,000 km, lubricant consumption often occurs due to wear of the connecting rod-piston group. The chain has a low lifespan. It is equipped with a simple plate chain, but due to the low power of the engine, it has a decent lifespan. However, for active drivers, the chain stretches quickly. Other disadvantages mentioned on forums include high vibration load, noisy operation of injectors, modest lifespan of the water pump, and occasional oil and coolant leaks.
