Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the F8CV engine according to the catalog is 82 kg. The engine number F8CV is located just below the oil filter. Until 2008, the engine was equipped with a quite temperamental ignition distributor. The electrical system is also considered not very reliable, especially the DPDZ often fails. Spark plugs quickly fail due to poor fuel, and fuel injectors get clogged. The timing belt has a modest lifespan of 50,000 km, and if a valve breaks, it causes damage. Seals often leak and periodic valve clearance adjustment is required.
