Engine Overview and Common Failures

Due to high compression, these units are prone to detonation when using gasoline with an octane rating of 92. Additionally, there is often a fluctuation in idle speed, mainly due to dirt on the throttle valve. The cooling system is also known for its low reliability, with leaks occurring in hoses and the thermostat. The replacement of the timing belt can be relatively expensive, and if it breaks, it can result in bent intake valves. Oil consumption often appears after reaching a mileage of 200,000 km, but it is usually minor.
