Engine Overview and Common Failures

This power unit is generally reliable, but it regularly has minor issues. The most common failures are related to the ignition system: spark plugs, coil, and ignition wires. The timing belt is designed for approximately 90,000 km, and in case of a breakage, it always bends the valves. The camshaft position sensor and coolant temperature sensor often fail. The crankcase ventilation system freezes in cold weather, causing oil to be pushed out through the dipstick.
