The weight of the P5-VPS engine assembly is 95 kg. The Mazda P5-VPS engine number is located at the junction with the gearbox. This engine is sensitive to the quality of gasoline, as its injectors constantly get clogged. Poor fuel often damages expensive ignition coils. Lubricant consumption appears from the first kilometers, but it does not significantly increase with mileage. Due to the wear of the plastic tensioner roller, the serpentine belt can break. Small oil leaks in the area of the front engine cover are common. Like all Skyactiv-G engines, the electronic thermostat regularly fails here.

The 1.8-liter Mazda FP-DE gasoline engine was produced by the company from 1997 to 2004 with a wide range of power: from 90 HP in the base model 626 to 135 HP in the Familia S-Wagon R-4. This engine differed from the FP with its modern ignition system and lack of hydraulic dampers. The F engines: F6, F8, FE, FE-DE, FE3N, FS, FS-DE, FS-ZE, and F2.
The 1.8-liter V6 engine Mazda K8-ZE was produced at the Japanese factory from 1991 to 1998 and installed in local versions of popular models such as Eunos, Efini MS-6, and Cronos.
